Description: Ylang Ylang is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesia, Philippines, and Malaysia. It bears highly fragrant, star-shaped flowers ranging in color from pale yellow to deep yellow-green.

Tribal and Herbal Medicine Uses: Used traditionally in tribal and herbal medicine for its calming effects, to alleviate stress and anxiety, and as an aphrodisiac. Also employed for its antiseptic properties to treat skin conditions.

Plant Chemicals: Mainly composed of benzyl benzoate, linalool, germacrene-D, and other sesquiterpenes and monoterpenes.

Biological Activities and Clinical Research: Research suggests its potential for anti-anxiety, antidepressant, and antimicrobial effects. Clinical studies have shown its ability to lower blood pressure and reduce anxiety levels.

Current Practical Uses: Widely used in aromatherapy, perfumery, and cosmetics industries for its exotic floral scent and therapeutic properties.

Main Preparation Method: Steam distillation of the flowers to obtain Ylang Ylang essential oil.
